Genova Burns Makes It to the Championship Game in Battle of the Barristers Softball Tournament

The Genova Burns law firm came out number two in this year’s Battle of the Barristers Charity Softball Tournament on Tuesday, July 16th. Our softball team went all the way to the championship game after going undefeated in five games in preliminary rounds, but lost the final game to the McCarter & English softball team, 28-11, at Yogi Berra Stadium on the Montclair State University campus.

The tournament, which involved eight law firms and lawyers from the Prudential company, raised money for the Greater Newark Fresh Air Fund for the purpose of sending city kids from low-income families to overnight and day summer camp programs.

Solomon, who fielded this year’s Fresh Air Fund “Battle of the Barristers” softball tournament,” said Firm Chairman & Managing Partner Angelo J. Genova. “We are proud of the Genova Burns team success but most importantly, proud of our participation in this cause for more than ten years…giving Newark kids a shot at the rural outdoors and a summer camp experience.”
