March 20, 2019 | By: Angelo J. Genova, Esq.
Firm Chairman and Managing Partner Angelo J. Genova, Esq. was recently interviewed by the New Jersey Law Journal in a question-and-answer article featured in their Law Firm Client Relationship section. Mr. Genova encourages law firms to “Embrace the Same Tools as Alternative Providers” commenting that "If a firm wants to compete today, it has to accept these trends and respond in-kind to these demands of the marketplace."
The article begins as saying, “It’s been more than a decade since Genova Burns’ move to Newark in late 2008, and its founder says the move has helped define the firm’s trajectory in the years since in two key ways: winning business and attracting talent. Also key, he says, is embracing clients’ changing demands about legal service delivery.”
Mr. Genova delves into the following topics in this in-depth Q&A: 1) the firm’s governance structure and compensation model, and alternative fee arrangements, 2) the two biggest opportunities for and the two biggest threats against the firm, 3) the trends and competition the firm is dealing with, 4) the advantages and disadvantages that midsize firms have in attracting and retaining young lawyers, 5) the firm’s employment of nonlawyer professionals in high-level positions, 6) the most innovative thing the firm has done recently, and 7) the firm’s succession plan.
