Laurence D. Laufer to Present at New York State Bar Association Seminar Entitled Representing the Political Candidate in New York

On June 21st Partner Laurence D. Laufer, who heads the Firm’s Corporate Political Activity Law and Non-Profit and Tax Exempt Organizations Practice Groups, will present at a seminar for the New York State Bar Association entitled Representing the Political Candidate in New York. Mr. Laufer’s presentation, “Campaign Finance in a Nutshell,” will review both state and federal basic fundraising rules, duties and responsibilities of candidates and campaign treasurers, as well as enlighten attendees on the subject of assembling campaign financial data and local and state-wide filings with the Boards of Election.
The half day seminar is intended to familiarize attendees with the New York laws regulating elections in the state, offer tips in recognizing possibly illegal campaign activities, and suggest how to most appropriately handle challenges and controversies when they do arise. The seminar also will discuss “dirty” election tactics and anti-deceptive practices legislation.
This program, which will be held at the New York Hotel Pennsylvania, has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education for 4.0 total credits for all attorneys, 2.0 credit hours of professional practice and/or practice management and 2.0 skills.
