SCOTUS Accepts Case on Arizona Public Financing Law
November 29, 2010
The Supreme Court has agreed to decide the constitutionality of a provision of Arizona’s public campaign finance law, which issues additional government funding to publicly funded candidates who face high-spending opponents.
The outcome of the case could have consequences for New York City’s (see our discussion here) and other public campaign financing laws, which have similar provisions.
The Court combined two cases, Arizona Free Enterprise, et al v. Bennett and McComish v. Bennett, and will hear arguments in the spring.
