Firm Chairman & Managing Partner Angelo J. Genova and Partner Jennifer Mazwey co-authored an article for the Seton Hall Legislative Journal entitled, "In the Election of 2002, the Voters Were the Winners".
The introduction to the article is as follows, "On October 2, 2002, the New Jersey Supreme Court handed down its unanimous decision in The New Jersey Democratic Party v. Samson, and in doing so, preserved the integrity of the New Jersey electoral system, including the fundamental right of voters to exercise the franchise in a meaningful fashion. In its well-reasoned and insightful opinion, the court set forth the foundation for its decision to allow the plaintiffs to substitute another candidate in place of Robert G.Torricelli on the ballot as the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senator from the State of New Jersey thirty-five days before the general election. This article will set forth the events leading up to the state supreme court's October 2, 2002 decision and will discuss why the New Jersey Supreme Court's decision was legally sound and in the best interest of the voters of New Jersey."
