Genova Burns Panel to Present at New Jersey State Bar Associations’ 2019 Public Utility Conference

Partners Jennifer Borek and Rebecca Moll Freed and Counsel Lawrence Bluestone will present at the New Jersey State Bar Associations’ 2019 Public Utility Conference on Friday, April 12th in New Brunswick. Their presentation, entitled “Ethical Interactions with Government Officials and Employees,” will focus on companies and individuals interacting with government officials and employees and their need to understand the “Dos and Don’ts” to ensure compliance with applicable law. The program will also address In-House Counsel and attorneys who advise regulated-industry companies and the unique requirements they face based on the Rules of Professional Conduct.
This panel will provide an overview of the requirements regulated-industry companies and those advising regulated-industry companies should keep in mind to assist compliance with:
- The Open Public Records Act (“OPRA”)
- Ethical Obligations in connection with Administrative Proceedings
- New Jersey’s Conflicts of Interest Law and Gift Rules
- The Regulated Industry Ban & Pay-to-Play Restrictions
In addition to a substantive overview of applicable law, this presentation will also include strategies for compliance. This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 8.1 hours of total CLE credit. Of these, 2.4 qualify as hours of credit for ethics/professionalism.
