Public Sector Labor Law
We advise our clients, including counties, towns, cities, school districts and public agencies throughout New Jersey and New York on all aspects of public sector labor law and collective negotiations with public sector unions, including:
- Filing and defending scope of negotiations proceedings
- Mediation
- Fact-finding
- Interest arbitration in the context of law enforcement units
In addition, we appear on behalf of public employers before the New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) in response to representation petitions and unfair practice allegations and before the New York Public Employment Relations Board. We provide preventive law counseling to public sector clients on personnel matters, disciplinary strategies and other day-to-day employee issues. We have represented employers in a wide variety of matters before the Civil Service Commission, including disciplinary proceedings, personnel disputes, layoffs and furloughs and we advise clients on shared services agreements.
In addition to our public sector clients, we are labor counsel to the New Jersey League of Municipalities and the New Jersey Association of Counties. Our group is well-positioned to best serve our public sector and not-for-profit clients.
