Genova Burns serves as general counsel to numerous nonprofit organizations including, but not limited to, 501(c)(3) charitable organizations and foundations, 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations, 501(c)(6) trade associations and 527 political organizations. Our attorneys work with clients on the establishment of new entities, ensuring that existing entities are in full compliance with applicable laws and representing nonprofit entities in litigation when necessary. Our work includes preparation and amendment of government filings, drafting of bylaws, governance documents and conflict of interest policies. We also provide ongoing counsel to nonprofit organizations related to compliance with IRS rules, HR and employment law, commercial contract reviews, lobbying and the permissibility of political activity.
