A frequent speaker on a wide array of Bankruptcy topics, Mr. Stolz has presented programs such as “The Texas Two-Step & Its Impact on Mass Tort Litigation” for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education and was chosen to provide important bankruptcy case law updates, several years in a row, at the Hon. William H. Gindin Bench Bar Conference. He has also written numerous articles on bankruptcy and insolvency issues and has been quoted in many national publications, including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, Law360, Bloomberg Law, The Star Ledger, the Bergen Record, and the New Jersey Law Journal, among others. Mr. Stolz has appeared on Bill Kurtis’ Investigative Reports program on the A&E Network.
Mr. Stolz led the representation of the unsecured creditors’ committee in the Bennett Funding Group Chapter 11 case, which, at the time, was the largest Ponzi scheme in American history. In addition, he has also represented the Debtor in MacGregor Sporting Goods, NVE, Inc. (Manufacturer of Stacker II products), Zucker, Goldberg & Ackerman, LLC., Liberty Harbor Holdings, LLC., Laila Rowe Stores, Lana Lobell Farms, Closter Shopping Plaza, among others.
Mr. Stolz has been named consistently to the Best Lawyers of America and Thompson Reuters’ Super Lawyers listings since 2005. Chambers & Partners USA Guide has ranked Mr. Stolz for seven consecutive years in the area of Bankruptcy/Restructuring and LawDragon named him in their “500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy and Restructuring Lawyers” 2022 - 2023 listings. He is also peer rated AV® Preeminent™ for the highest level of professional excellence by Martindale-Hubbell® and was recently honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who. With a Bachelor of Arts Degree, cum laude, from Boston University in 1977, Mr. Stolz continued his education and graduated from New York Law School in 1980. Mr. Stolz is admitted to the Courts of the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, The Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United State District Court for the Northern District of New York. Upon his swearing into the bar of the United States Supreme Court in October 2019, Mr. Stolz had the distinct honor of meeting with the late Justice Ginsburg in her chambers.
